Edits, edits...

I'm in the middle of the editing process with my editor from Dorchester. The deadline is November 30, and I've still got lots to do. The editor was supposed to mail me the manuscript with her markings since the start of the month, but I didn't get it. I gave her a street address two weeks ago in case the PO box number was the problem, and she was supposed to send me another copy. I haven't received that yet either. I hope it's not my courier in Miami messing up again...

The editorial letter was very detailed, and we discussed the revisions by phone, so I'm forging ahead, package or no package. There's no way I'm going to miss that deadline on Friday. Absolutely no effing way!

The day job that's been looming is supposed to start next week, once this editing business is out of the way. Hm. I'll be keeping regular hours, I suppose. No more staying up all night reading blogs, editing novel #2, and farting around with novel #3. Damn. I hate being all normal and everything; I like going to bed at dawn. The upside of this change, of course, is that I'll be [insert drumroll] getting paid! Buying groceries! And stuff like that.

So pleased all is going ahead in spite of problems with the post...

There is nothing like a day job, especially when it's over. Yes, money is good, but more money is better.

I hope your edits go well and I hope the book cover looks good. There is almost nothing like buying a book that is good both inside and out, except for maybe a girl who looks good both in and out of a bikini :)

Good luck with the edits. You're going to have abusy couple of days but it will be worth it.

Not so great about the job but food is quite important I suppose:-)

Editing! Now that's progress. As for work, it's a necessary evil and I do enjoy the money and benefits.

Pacha, the day job is part-time, non permanent, although the company is angling for permanent. I'm not ready to commit that far.

aka_lol, you did it again, gave me my first two laughs of the day. Thank you. I endorse the money sentiment, and I'll have to take your word re the girl in the bikini... :)

nyc/caribbean, lane, thank you. And yes, unfortunately mere mortals must eat.

Anti-wife, I have to say I'm enjoying this editing process. Neophyte enthusiasm, maybe? It doesn't seem like work at all - unlike the other kind of work, the day job kind, that is.

I love editing on a deadline. Actually, I love anything on a deadline because I am no good at motivating myself. Of course, but the time you read this, the edits are in the mail. Or over the internet, more likely.

(For a couple of weeks now I thought your blog was down, I just figured out that the company computer I'm using -- Valerie has my personal one -- was blocking your blog and a couple of others. No idea why, but I've figured out how to get around the block.)

Day jobs can be a hassle. My current one has been eating all of my energy, but it's management -- fraught with mind-numbing responsibility and minutiae. Avoid that, ikf possible. I did a lot of good writing while working direct support with folks dealing with schizophrenia and autism. Something about figuring out where their minds were at kept mine nimble.

Kevin, you sound a whole lot like me. I'm the worst procrastinator you can hope to find, then when the deadline casts its gloomy shadow I work day and night on pure adrenaline, until finally I'm done.

So glad you got around that block and found me again...

I'm hoping this day job won't be too much of a hassle for me. The first two days I went home, crept into bed, and felt sorry for myself, but I'm adjusting now. I doubt I'll have the inspiration you get from disabled and disturbed people, though.
