Elizabeth Gilbert: A New Way to Think About Creativity

Found this over at The Largest Writing Group on Facebook and just had to share. I don't think the author of Eat, Pray, Love needs an introduction.

Liane, this was just brilliant! I totally agree with her approach to creativity and I appreciated her honesty about the fear that can cripple. I enjoyed the stories about Ruth Stone and Tom Waits and those final words were so beautiful and encouraging "...if the divine, cockeyed genius assigned to your case decides to let some sort of wonderment be glimpsed for just one moment though your efforts then "Ole!", and if not, do your dance anyhow. "Ole!" to you nonetheless....just for having the sheer human love and stubbornness to keep showing up."

Thanks you for sharing.
Blessings

Liane, this is brilliant. I listened to it last week when I was feeling a bit wobbly. It put me straight. Fantastic.

Hey, I thought I'd do a quick drive by and shout out, "Happy Carnival Day!"

Guanaguanare, you're welcome! I also agree with Gilbert's approach, which reminds me of that of Steven Pressfield in The War of Art. Now, if I can just internalize it half the battle would be won...

Liz, JJ, Nyc/caribbean ragazza: brilliant indeed. I too needed to hear this again.

ChrisH, at my age, all birthday greetings welcomed with gratitude, belated or not! Thank you!

Chumplet - the Carnival holidays were most welcome! I won't post photos of the Carnival, but I'll direct anyone interested to the lovely ones at akalol's photo site, www.mayarobeach.com.
